The book Hidden Valley Road: Inside the Mind of an American Family is a story about a family of twelve children who are severely impacted by mental illness. Six boys from this family are diagnosed with Schizophrenia which is an illness that permanently alters the life of an individual. This book illuminates the journey of the family as it navigates the devastating effects of Schizophrenia. Over the past 50 years, this family has played a critical role in the research and treatment of this powerful illness. Their pain has helped to pave the road for all of the doctors, scientists, and mental health counselors who are passionate in their desire to lessen the pain and disruption of schizophrenia.
